I've been holding back on talking about self-confidence because my self-doubt was telling me that I wasn't good enough, didn't have enough degrees, and there wasn't enough evidence to offer Singalong Switch to help people (despite 100s of positive comments and reviews).

Ironic, I know.

Since this is Holy week, I'm going to sing some of the lyrics from the hymn "It is well with my soul"

I am going to sing each phrase twice so that you can sing along, and the whole time I'll be tapping, which is a pattern interrupter and a proven way of lowering stress.

I'll go through the tapping points:

I start in between my eyebrows, the side of my eye, under my eye, under my nose, under my mouth, under my collarbone, right in the middle of my rib cage and then on top of my head.

There's no way to screw this up, so if you feel like one or more of the points is just too uncomfortable to get to you and you just aren't feeling it today, that's fine.

It's totally up to you, what you are comfortable with doing. This is something that is helpful and if you feel comfortable doing it, I think you will benefit.

If we treat ourselves well, then we are more likely to treat others as well. The angry behavior we have towards others is really reflective of how angry we are with ourselves. And so when we can forgive ourselves, we are more likely to forgive others.

Once we feel fully accepted as WE are, then we can more easily accept others as THEY are. It starts with how we feel about ourselves. And when we are more accepting of ourselves, then we are more accepting of others.

I’m sharing what I’ve found in the hopes that it will help us stop competing and start connecting.

So I'm starting a new series for Fall on Love. I truly believe that if we really understood how much God loves us, everything else would fall into place. I feel called to spread love through sharing scripture and songs in this series. May this help us to have strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow!

I've had opportunities to sing in several different churches recently and I have been really impressed with the ways that we can still participate together, even if we're not singing together.

I am happiest on the days that I can be both a musician AND a mom.

But being a mom is so all consuming that it's easy to get absorbed in THAT and stop making time for music.

What happens next is usually not a pretty picture...here's a peek at what happens.

Are you a Bible study drop out too?

I must confess that I have dropped out of many Bible studies, because other people would read passages in the Bible and then come to the discussion with all kinds of deep insights that I just did NOT understand.

And I would feel SO lost and convinced that other people are just way deeper than I am.

This podcast describes what I've found helps me apply the Bible to my daily life.

(And I've since joined a small group in my church...much less pressure to be "deep" and more along the lines of a support group for life!)

How to adjust to “regular” life

I went straight from college to boot camp, an extreme change, then on to "A" school, which was yet another new reality.

It's similar to what we're all experiencing right now, where our reality from six months ago was ripped away, we went into something extremely restricted, and now it's like sort of normal, but not.

Strength for Today

I've been struggling MIGHTILY with fear about the future, so I have to constantly remind myself, I have strength for today. Should we face something more difficult in the future, God will give strength to face it then. The reason those horrible scenarios in the future feel overwhelming is because God isn't giving us strength to face what we're imagining, He's giving us strength to face our reality. Focus on today. God IS Blessing You

What if instead of saying God bless you, we said God IS blessing you? That phrase was uttered to me years ago by a sweet lady in Cuba. I know she was meaning to say the phrase "God Bless You", but the way she phrased it made me think about it in a whole new way. When I've said "God Bless You" it has been to wish that person a FUTURE blessing. Or used the phrase "God blessed me" when remembering a time in the PAST. But to think that God IS blessing me? Right now? In this moment? It has challenged me to see present blessing instead of only thanking God for the past or praying for the future. May you feel God's blessing today, or even better, find a way to be that blessing for someone else!
